The day looked distinctly unpromising as I turned off the main road towards the village where I planned to start from
Saliendo de la carretera que sube a Brañavieja hacia Argüeso no tenía claro si iba a tener buen tiempo
But by the time I'd put my boots on the cloud had lifted. We set off up a track near the castle in Argüeso
Pero para cuando nos pusimos en camino se había leventado la niebla. Salimos cerca del castillo

The track winds up and to the left towards the Fuentes pastures
La pista sube hacia la izquierda para alcanzar los puertos de Fuentes

When we got to the top we walked towards Palombera, to get some good views of Pico Liguardi

Al llegar arriba nos encaminamos un poco hacia Palombera para ver mejor el Pico Liguardi

We then doubled back along the track you can see in the next photo and admired the view from the top of the hill
Después nos dimos la vuelta y vimos donde habíamos caminado desde más arriba


To the north lies the beginning of the river Argoza that runs down to Bárcena Mayor

Unfortunately, the weather started getting worse
Por desgracia, empezaba a nublarse

This is the Ropero, which I'd hoped to have a good view of the Ebro Reservoir from, but visibility was very poor by the time we reached the summit
Éste es el Ropero, desde cuya cima había esperado tener buenas vistas del embalse de Ebro, pero para cuando llegamos no se veía mucho 

So, we headed back down via another track, which included making our way through this heavy drift - just as well we came up the other way!
Así que bajamos otra vez a Argüeso, esta vez desde el alto de Cepelledu, disfrutando de la bajada por la nieve que bloqueaba la pista - ¡menos mal que subimos por el otro lado!

It's strange how the snow stays in some places and quickly melts away from others. The track carried on down to the right and so we finished the day's circuit.
Ya cerca del pueblo había zonas donde la nieve se resistía a marcharse - precisamente en la pista y no en los praos. Nos quedaba poco más de un kilómetro para acabar el circuito.
