Into the heart of the Picos / Una excursión al macizo central

The familiar view when you get out of the cable car up from Fuente Dé and start walking into the central massif of the Picos de Europa. The mountain third from the left is Santa Ana.

El panorámica familiar que te recibe cuando sales del teleférico de Fuente Dé y empiezas a caminar hacia el macizo central de Picos. La montaña que es la tercera de la izq. es Santa Ana

After about an hour's walk a look back with the mountains of Palencia on the horizon. The peak  on the left is the one I went up a few days before
Después de andar durante una hora se ve así la Montaña Palentina detrás. A la izq. está el Bistruey, que subí unos días antes

Leaving the main path, we turned right up the Canalona and then to the left following the Tiro Navarro round towards the east
Al llegar al cruce subimos hacia la derecha por la Canalona y luego hacia la izq. para seguir la base del Tiro Navarro hacia el este

In front of us lie the Escamellau, Paredón del Albo and Cuetu la Cuadra and beyond them the eastern massif
Delante están el Escamellau, Paredón del Albo y Cuetu la Cuadra y detrás el macizo oriental

Just before the rock that sticks out like a sore thumb you climb up to the left to gain the summit of Tiro Navarro. On this occasion I didn't feel up to it - but I will return to give it a go.
Justo antes de llegar a este "diente" giras a la izq. Las viras llevan hacia la cima de Tiro Navarro. En este momento no me encontraba con valor para acometerlo - pero volveré a probar suerte otro día.

Retracing our steps we returned to the Collado Santa Ana and ascended the summit of the same name. Views of Peña Vieja...
Volvimos al Collado de Santa Ana y subimos a la cima que le da nombre. Vistas de Peña Vieja...
