El Coriscao

Aprovechando que estábamos de fin de semana en Liébana subimos el sábado pasado al Coriscao

The Coriscao is a popular mountain with hikers as it affords wonderful views of the Picos de Europa from the south

En lugar de rodearla, como hace la ruta más frecuentada, la subimos. La ladera es pindia pero el esfuerzo merece la pena. Aquí la vista desde la cima hacia el Coriscao:
The path most people take skirts round the mountain, but we decided to go over the top. Despite the steep walk up it was worth the effort. The view from the top looking towards the Coriscao:

Había olvidado lo empinada que es la subida al Coriscao, pero la última parte era más divertida, a través de la nieve
The walk up to the Coriscao is rather more taxing; luckily the last part was through the snow, which made it more fun

En lugar de volver por el mismo camino, bajamos desde el collado de Valdeloso (al pie del Coriscao) hacia el S-E en búsqueda de un sendero que nos llevara a San Glorio. La bajada es algo incómoda, y no encontramos ninguna senda clara hasta llegar abajo del todo. Seguimos el arroyo de la Vega Lluenga hacia abajo. Cuando el terreno pierde altura hay que mantenerse a la izquierda. El sendero es bastante evidente a partir del punto de la foto.
Instead of returning the same way, we headed down to the bottom of the valley on the southeast side (now in the province of León). From here we followed the stream down to the left, keeping on the left side from the point where this photo was taken.

La Majada Piedrasobas comprende un a cabaña en ruinas y otro en buen estado al lado. Desde aquí arranca una pista que nos llevaba hacia la carretera que sube al puerto desde Llánaves.

Pasamos por debajo de la Peña Cascajal; un poco más adelante cometimos el error de intentar cruzar directamente campo a través en dirección al puerto, con la idea de evitar subir por la carretera. ¡No lo intentéis! Ya sabía lo desagradable que es andar entre la retama, pero aún peor es cuando se muere la senda… Mucho mejor bajar hasta la nacional, y en 15 minutos de subida suave estás el San Glorio
We walked below the Peña Cascajal, which we climbed earlier on in the day. We then made the mistake of trying to talk a short cut through the undergrowth to San Glorio, but regretted the decision - much better to get to the main road and walk up the hill to the pass.
