1) Dawn walk to Pizarral / Paseo al alba al Pizarral
Setting off before dawn to the SW, I was witness to the sun rising behind the Candelario SierraAs I walked up and around the hill to the south of the village, the large Gabriel y Galán reservoir in Extremadura came into view Rodeé la colina y hacia el sur veía el embalse Gabriel y Galán, ya en Extremadura
The trail winds round the hillside through the pine trees La pista atraviesa un pinar

I carried on up the gentle slopes to Pizarral, a name that refers to the slate in the area. From the high point of the walk I could see Lagunilla below to the north Subí la cuesta suave al Pizarral. Desde este punto alto de la caminata se ve Lagunilla hacia el norte
and a sea of clouds that hadn't lifted to the NW y hacia el NO un mar de nubes que había visto antes no se había levantado
before heading north to complete the loop. The next two photos were taken from the same point a couple of days earlier, but later in the morning: antes de girar al norte para completar el círculo. Había sacado las dos fotos siguientes en el mismo punto un par de días antes, pero hacia mediodía:
Some vultures that nest nearby were in evidence Unos buitres que anidan cerca nos deleitaban con su vuelo elegante
I walked down to the village through the oak woods I'd come up through in darkness a couple of hours earlier. Regresé al pueblo pasando por el joven robledal que había atravesado un par de horas antes en la oscuridad
2) Lagunilla - Río Cuerpo de Hombre
Heading north from the village through the chestnut woodsThere were times when it felt as though we could have been in the north of Spain Salimos del bosque y la vista de la hierba con la nube baja me recordaba el norte de España
The river came into sight through the treesIt has a strange name: "Man's Body"(Corpus hominis in Roman times) El río se llama "Cuerpo de hombre" - un nombre que llama mucho la atención
However, visibility decreased considerably soon afterwards, and with the rain becoming heavier we latched onto one of the many trails in the area and headed back to Lagunilla.
