Peña Pelada: an impregnable-looking fortress from this angle

Peña Pelada tiene aspecto de fortaleza inexpugnable desde el norte

From La Pereda,  a group of huts at the end of a long walk up a track accompanied by gusts of wind that were so strong it made me think I was foolish to go on.
Desde La Pereda, unas cabañas que se encuentran al final de una pista larga y monótona; las ráfagas de viento eran tan fuertes que dudaba si continuar o no.

Another hour later and were at the bottom of Peña Pelada. Finding a way up through the karst that Monty could handle was no easy task
Otra hora más tarde estábamos en la base de Peña Pelada. No era tarea fácil encontrar un camino que fuera factible para Monty 

As we ascended Mortillano and Porracolina came into view
Mientras subíamos aparecían Mortillano y Porracolina hacia el SE

Eventually we made the summit, and stayed just long enough to take some photos before retreating from the force of the wind. Las Enguinzas:

The original plan was to go down via the east side but getting across the ridge in that wind didn't seem like the best idea so we went back the way we'd come. Here we'd made it to the foot of the ascent
Mi idea original era bajar por el otro lado (NE) pero crestear con ese viento no era plan, así que bajamos por donde habíamos subido. Aquí llegábamos a la base de la Peña

We walked past this odd-looking rock on our way back round to La Pereda
Volviendo a La Pereda pasamos delante de esta roca de forma extraña

And then back down the boring track to the car parked below this coat-of-arms in Rubalcaba
Y luego a bajar la pista aburrida hasta llegar al coche aparcado debajo de este escudo en Rubalcaba
