Verde que te quiero verde / Ropero in late spring

No suelo hacer rutas por Campoo en esta época del año porque suele hacer demasiado calor para mi gusto, así que aunque había subido al Ropero en otras ocasiones no lo había hecho a finales de primavera. Fui a la comarca con la idea de ascender otro pico, pero al ver la cima metida en una nube decidí coger otro camino. 

It's usually too warm for me at this time of the year to go walking in Campoo, so although I'd been here previously, I'd never done so at the end of spring. The peak I had planned to go up had its head in the clouds so I elected this new route up to the Ropero

Salí de Argüeso dirección al Poblado Cántabro, pero antes de llegar cogí un sendero a la derecha que indicaba un PR al Alto de Cepelludu. Pasé delante del Cueto Caminos, pero en lugar de subir hacia él como indicaba el PR seguí hacia el este. En el pueblo de Caminos fui por el NE por la Gorgoya siempre en llano

I set off from Argüeso following the signs to the Poblado Cántabro (a reproduction of an Iron Age settlement), but before reaching it I took a path to the right signposted to the Alto de Cepelludu. The Cueto Caminos soon came into view on the left, but instead of following the sign  up the path towards it I continued eastwards. When I came to a little village called Caminos I headed NE along Gorgoya

El siguiente pueblo es Fontecha, y nada más entrar giré al norte para salir del pueblo hacia arriba. Vi estas amapolas mientras caminaba. Siempre me ha alegrado la vista esta flor.
Next up was Fontecha. Just after the first houses I turned left up a hill northwards out of the village. I walked past these poppies on the way - I've always enjoyed seeing this dash of red amongst the green

El siguiente momento agradable fue escuchar al alcanzar una zona boscosa el sonido del cuco por primera vez este año - cómo se nota el efecto del confinamiento, ¿eh?
The next pleasant moment was when I got to this wooded area and heard a cuckoo sing for the first time this year - one of the effects of being confined for so long

A little higher up the track the Ebro reservoir can be seen

These two were very interested in what I might have in my rucksack

Bajé al oeste hacia el Alto la Cruz de Fuentes. La retama, que tan mal me lo ha hecho pasar en otras excursiones hoy me ha alegrado la vista, con sus flores amarillas
I walked down the other side towards the Alto la Cruz de Fuentes. One of the pleasures throughout the walk was seeing the broom in flower

Hacia el NO se ve la sierra donde estuve hace tres semanas, con Sobrecomillas, Tambuey y Mediajo Buelna
To the NW is the range I was walking along three weeks previously

 En el cruce con la pista que sigue a Palombera bajé hacia Argüeso y su castillo.
At the crossroads with the track that continues to Palombera I turned off down to Argüeso and its castle
