La mañana estaba cubierta cuando llegamos al pueblo de Socueva - intercambiamos recuerdos de la dureza de la subida (y ¡la bajada!) a Peña Rocías, que teníamos enfrente
As we set off from Socueva on an overcast morning, we looked across at the mountain behind us and exchanged memories of the tough walk up (and especially down) the slope to Peña Rocías

Nos dirigimos a la cuesta en zigzag delante de nosotros
We made our way to the path that zigzags up the hill ahead
Al subir este tramo llegamos a Buzulucueva, desde donde se ve el Mosquiteru - con menos nieve debajo de la cima que la última vez que vine aquí, en las mismas fechas hace 7 años
At the top we reached Buzulucueva, and Mosquiteru comes into view - with a lot less snow on its slopes than there was last time I came here, at the same time of the year seven years ago
Se ve (y se oye) la cascada del Asón valle arriba
You could see (and hear) the Asón waterfall up the valley
Una cuadrilla de rebecos se sorprenden de mi presencia
I startled a group of ibex - one stayed behind a few seconds and hissed at me
Empieza a lloviznar y dudamos de que lleguemos arriba con vistas
It began to drizzle and we wondered about the outcome of the walk
Sorprendemos a esta salamandra al lado de la entrada a la Sima del Cueto
This salamander caught our attention near the entrance to the Cueto cave
Giramos a la izquierda hacia la Peña Lavalle a la espera de que mientras tanto se quite la nube que envuelve el Pico Mosquiteru. Dos rebecos más observan nuestros movimientos, y ¡abracadabra! la niebla los hace desaparecer
We took the path to the left towards Peña Lavalle in the hope that the cloud that was covering Mosquiteru would shift in the meantime. Two more ibex observed us before they were swallowed up by the mist. Now you see them, now you don't...

En seguida llegamos a la cima occidental y vemos la oriental sin cortina de nubes
We soon got to the western peak and were glad to see the higher one to the east clear of the clouds
Abajo están Socueva y Arredondo
Below lie Socueva and the town of Arredondo
Hacia el otro lado las laderas que surgen a cada lado del barranco de Rolacía
In the other direction are the mountainsides that shelter the Rolacía gully
y el valle del Asón, que se deja ver por momentos mientras almorzamos
and the Asón valley, which appeared and disappeared as we sat and had a bite to eat
Decidimos probar suerte con el Mosquiteru
We decided to give the Mosquiteru a shot
Subimos entre las dos rocas y bajaremos luego por la derecha del nevero
We walked up between the two outcrops and later on would come down to the right of the snow patch

La última vez que vine aquí descendí nada más llegar a la cima, y luego vi unas fotos que me hicieron arrepentirme por no haber visto la cumbre desde otro ángulo. Así que esta vez quería subir un poco más por la Len. Efectivamente, la cumbre es más llamativa desde el lado oeste
The last time I came this way I regretted having gone straight down after summitimg as I later saw photos of Pico Mosquiteru from a more interesting angle. So this time I wanted to walk up the slope to the SW a bit to get a decent view

Gradually the clouds dispersed and the limestone rocks seemed different in the sunlight
