Dos veces dos horas / Beech and beach (ouch!)

Una decisión de última hora me dio la oportunidad de explorar un poco la zona de Cuchisecos, que está entre Los Llares y el Joyancón. Sólo disponía de un par de horas, pero aprovecharía para disfrutar de los colores de otoño.

A last-minute decision to go for a walk gave me the opportunity for the yearly excursion to the woods to enjoy the colours of autumn. I only had a couple of hours at my disposal, so I left the car near Los Llares and set off to the west just as I did this time last year.

Seguí la misma pista que el año pasado hasta llegar al árbol donde se indica Cuchisecos - un nombre que me llamaba mucho la atención. No sabía qué me iba a encontrar ya que no había tenido tiempo para planificar la ruta.
When we got to this signpost nailed to the tree we followed the path to the left. I had no idea what I'd find at Cuchisecos, as I'd had no time to plan the walk, but couldn't resist a place with a name like that.

 El camino va hacia el este sureste y sigue el regato de la Teba, afluente del río de Los Llares
The path goes ESE and follows the stream that flows into the Los Llares river

Monty found lots of other trails to follow

Cruzamos el regato dos veces
We crossed the brook twice


antes de cambiar de dirección en una bifurcación, donde siguiendo la indicación de un hito, nos alejamos del arroyo y subimos hacia la derecha a través del bosque
before changing direction at a fork, where I saw a cairn to the right, leading away from the stream, to a path that took us up through the woods

Después de una subida corta pero empinada salimos por encima del barranco de la Aceitería
After a short but steep climb, we came out above a gully

Seguimos a la derecha, buscando los hitos, y subiendo ligeramente
We now followed the cairns that took us to the right, gaining elevation very slightly

Habían dejado este hito en un sitio muy original: pero aunque se ve en la foto anterior, no me percaté de él hasta llegar al otro lado por otro camino
Some of them were left in ingenious places: this one is visble in the previous photo, but I didn't see it till I'd got to the other side via a rounadabout way

Volvimos a cambiar de dirección, subiendo a la derecha por una senda que giraba hacia la izquierda
We then changed direction again, turning sharp right and up a path that gradually swung round to the left

antes de seguir en línea recta (SE) a medida que ascendía en dirección al Alto de la Rasía, si no me equivoco
before continuing in the same direction (SE) and gradually going up through the wood

Al llegar a este punto, parecía que el sendero dejaba de subir, pero tocaba volver y dejar la exploración para otro día.
When we got to this point, the path seemed to level off, but it was time for me to turn back and continue the exploration another day.

Al día siguiente también tuve la oportunidad de disfrutar de un par de horas al aire libre. Me sorprendió encontrar la playa de Valdearenas así de vacía a las cuatro de la tarde...

The next day also gave me the chance to make the most of a couple of hours. I was surprised to find Liencres beach deserted at four in the afternoon...

Terminamos la tarde subiendo al monte Tolio para mirar la playa que acabábamos de pisar
We concluded the afternoon by walking up to Tolio hill to look down on the beach we'd just been along

Las montañas hacia el oeste se iban definiendo a medida que se acercaba el ocaso
The mountains in the distance became more clearly defined as sunset approached
